CHEC Scholarships

Helping Homeschool Families

CHEC was formed for the educational purpose of facilitating connections between homeschooled children and various independent educators and educational programs, with the purpose of providing children access to enriching opportunities in the arts and sciences.

Unfortunately, the cost of enrichment classes can be out of reach for some homeschooling families, most of whom are supported by just one working parent. Some students are in single-parent/single-income homes with that parent also taking on the job of instruction for their child. Families choose to homeschool for a variety of reasons, including:

  • to make a change from a negative school environment,
  • to support a child with learning differences, or
  • to educate children during a family relocation (i.e., military families), among others.

Your contribution, which supports the scholarship fund, helps children who might have otherwise not been able to participate in enrichment courses at CHEC.

CHEC Financial Aid Options

Before applying for financial aid, consider the work/study program to reduce the cost of your child's classes.  This involves serving as a site manager during class days, or serving as an officer with CHEC.  Email [email protected] if you are interested.

CHEC does not wish to collect detailed financial information, but we do require some information to help us evaluate requests for scholarship money.  We do ask that families submit a Statement of Need every term.  A statement of need could provide general information about family resources (i.e. parents are students or currently unemployed), family expenses (i.e. currently dealing with medical expenses), or information pertaining to availability to participate in CHEC's work/study program.

Statement of Need information will be shared with the CHEC scholarship committee (Treasurer, Administrator, and Registrar).

Follow these steps to apply for financial aid:

  1.  Enroll your child prior to submitting scholarship requests.  In the even that scholarship funds are not available, you will have the option of removing your child from the class at no cost.
  2.  Make a $25 payment per class on your account.  This will hold your child's spot in the class until scholarship funds are awarded.
  3. Complete CHEC's Scholarship Application here.
    1. Indicate the amount of aid you need in order to take each class.  We will do our best to grant the amount you ask for, if funds allow.  Please only ask for the amount you need to make the courses feasible for you family, rather than asking for the full amount for a course.  Our scholarship funds can go further if those who are able to pay partial amount do so.
    2.  Add a Statement of Need.
