Running games and activities

Join us for non-competitive running! All abilities are welcome. We will focus on fun while learning some running skills in a supportive environment. Our goal will be to go to the Hospice of The Piedmont 5K race together on May 10th as a final challenge at the end of the term (to run, walk, cheer or any combination.) We will come up with a name for our CHEC run club and make team shirts.  This class will involve running games like tag, making energy snacks, taste testing homemade energy drinks, learning to stretch before and after, short runs close to CHEC and a schedule of runs to try out on other days. Come run with us! 

Run Club will meet at Washington Park where many activities (including running) will take place. On some class days students may also do some running with their instructor in nearby neighborhood loops and return to Washington Park for pick up at the end of class.

Parents are responsible for student transport to and from Washington Park. Families looking to connect with families of other enrolled students to arrange carpools to and from the park should contact [email protected]

I have always loved learning environments that feel like home. This is what led me to teaching preschool for years at Free union country school with a cozy little log cabin feel and then eventually to homeschooling. I enjoy learning projects that feel joyful and hands on. My goal is to stimulate natural student curiosity in our subjects and help them to build personal connection to our learning. I have a Masters degree in teaching and have taught a variety of grades and environments from preschool to 4th and 5th grade in both public and private schools. Students with learning differences as well as highly sensitive students are all welcome in my classes.
