“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell... it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.” In this class, we will do a literature and art study of The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. Students will read the Hobbit at home throughout the class, and create an art journal as a book response. In class, we will do art projects related to the book such as a diorama model of Bag End, basket weaving, and other cottagecore/hobbitcore related projects. I am open to tweens also taking this class if you are interested, and can commit to the work at home. Please plan on reading 2-3 chapters per week.
