Description
CHEC's Golden Autumn Teen Dance will be a memorable evening featuring a DJ and dancing. Charlottesville area homeschoolers and their guests are invited to attend this special event. Enjoy Golden Autumn ambiance, sample harvest-themed food and mocktails, and celebrate the fall season with a night to remember!
This event is hosted by Community Homeschool Enrichment Center (CHEC) and is open to all homeschoolers, their guests and former CHEC students ages 13-19. Our goal is to provide an inclusive, fun and memorable dance experience for teens.
What guests can expect:
- Music: A professional DJ will keep the dance floor filled with energy!
- Food & Drink: Seasonal appetizers, autumnal treats and harvest-themed mocktails!
- Safe & Secure: Plenty of background-checked chaperones on-site to keep things running smoothly.
- Sensory Notes: An adjacent chaperoned quiet(er) room will be available throughout the night as well as access to a chaperoned outdoor patio (weather permitting). No strobe lights will be used during this event and our DJ has been asked to use 'gentle' lighting throughout. Attendees who may be sensitive to music volume may wish to bring ear plugs or other noise canceling items.
- Photo Opps: Bring your camera to capture memories with friends at our golden autumn-themed photo stop!
- Attire: Formal, semi-formal or even casual -- you choose! Most attendees at past CHEC dances have worn fancier attire to celebrate the special occasion, but the most important thing is that attendees are comfortable and having fun!
- Song Requests: Early Bird registrants will have the opportunity to submit song requests prior to the event. Details in your confirmation email!
Policies:
- Ticket Required - All attendees (including guests) must purchase a ticket in advance. Ticket sales end on Wednesday, November 11th. Students who have purchased a ticket will be on the list at check in and do not need to bring a physical ticket to the dance.
- Drop-Off/Sign-In - Only attendees, background checked chaperones and paid staff will be admitted into the event. Parents/guardians and younger siblings may accompany attendees into the lobby where attendees will check-in at our welcome station. Attendees will be directed to the ballroom once the dance begins at 6pm. Attendees are expected to stay in designated areas of the building and grounds for the entire dance.
- Pick-up/Sign-Out - Parents/guardians are responsible for prompt pick-up no later than 9:00 PM. All attendees must sign out at the welcome station before leaving. For planned early departures where a parent/guardian is picking up a teen, the parent/guardian must be present at the designated lobby sign-out area.
- Allergies - A variety of food and beverage will be served at the dance. We will do our best to note common allergens such as gluten, egg and nuts at food stations. CHEC cannot ensure that all items are free from cross contamination of any kind as we are visitors in this kitchen and some items are being prepared elsewhere.
- Code of Conduct - All attendees are expected to be kind and respect fellow attendees, chaperones and staff as well as church property. Any attendee displaying inappropriate behavior will be pulled aside by chaperones. If the issue is not resolved, the parent/guardian will be contacted, and the attendee will be sent home.
- Prohibited Items: No tobacco, vaping, alcohol, drugs, or weapons are allowed.
- Waivers and Policies - All attendees are required to have all applicable waivers and policies signed prior to admittance to the event. Required paperwork should be signed electronically during the ticket check out process and will be available at check-in for anyone 18 or younger who does not yet have them on file.
